South Carolina Pink Tea

September 12, 2013

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network will be hosting a Pink Tea Advocacy Event to honor and recognize breast cancer survivors across the state, and to recognize providers for the Best Chance Network.

This event will be held at the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library in Florence in the Stukes Meeting Room on October 1, 2013, from 2pm-3pm.  It is our hope that elected officials and the media will experience first-hand the importance of funding for the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program delivered in South Carolina as the Best Chance Network.

Thanks to Congressional and State funding appropriated to the Centers for Disease Control and the Department of Health and Environmental Control respectively, over 9,000 women received lifesaving breast and cervical cancer screenings in South Carolina in 2013.

The Pink Tea will highlight the need and importance of maintaining funding at both the Federal and State levels. This event will provide an excellent opportunity for you to learn how the Best Chance Network is working to screen women across South Carolina and to also learn about the offices where the women are being screened.

The event is free and open to the public.  Please RSVP to Beth Johnson at (843) 858-2310 or [email protected].  Please also forward the name of your press contact if you are able to attend.
