October Advocacy Update
October is breast cancer awarness month and the start of a new season. There are certainly a lot of activities planned for this month and we wanted to share a couple with you! Starting this month we will update our page with a Monthly Advocacy Update and beginning in January we will also add our weekly Legislative Updates. Our goal is to make sure that as an advocate you stay informed!

- We invite you to learn more about the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program that operates in South Carolina through the Best Chance Network. View the latest information here.
- The Pee Dee Region of the state will be hosting a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Saturday, October 13 at McLeod Health and Fitness Center in Florence. This is a great way to get invovled and fight back! We will aslo have an Advocacy table set up to register new advocates.
- McLeod Hospital System's Breast Health Navigator Maureen Byrd recently received a Rural Health Grant from the American Cancer Society. Maureen is using the funds from this grant to host a Breast Cancer Prevention Conference at Florence Darlington Technical College on Saturday, October 20th. - The 2012 Pink Tea will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at Seawell's in Columbia from 1:30pm-3:30pm. We invite you to join us for afternoon tea and to raise awarness of the Best Chance Network and celebrate survivors from around the state. The event is free and open to the first 225 registered guest. To register call: 1-877-227-9398.
