Gathered with friends, family and community members, your Relay For Life is the place we all come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight to end suffering and death from a disease that has already taken too much.
But, did you know it's an also an incredibly important place to advocate for cancer issues? Surrounded by people who are so passionate about the fight against cancer, your Relay For Life provides an unparalleled setting for advancing our work to make ending suffering and death from cancer a national priority.
We're looking for volunteers to lead advocacy activities at every local, Relay For Life. It's fun, impactful and we provide all of the tools, resources and training you need to be highly successful.
Our advocacy activities include:
- Asking people to sign petitions on issues like increasing federal funding for cancer research or passing laws that will improve the quality of life for cancer patients and survivors
- Managing the ACS CAN table or tent at your Relay For Life
- Working with the Relay For Life planning committee to integrate advocacy activities at the event
- Recruiting Relay participants to become members of ACS CAN
