Linda and Dan Hart
Linda and Dan Hart have spent several years being ambassadors for those battling cancer. Currently, Linda serves as the State Lead Ambassador for West Virginia and Dan serves as the Vice Lead Ambassador for the West Virginia team. They are married and reside in Charles Town, WV, and live about 6 hours from our state capital, Charleston, and about 90 minutes from the U.S Capitol.
Although they have been active in ACS CAN since 2006, their story of how they met starts after both lost their first spouses to the disease.
Linda first got involved in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in 2002 in memory of her first spouse, Donnie, who died of lung cancer in 1999.
Dan first got involved in American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in 2001 in memory of his first wife, Karen, who died of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer in 1999.
Why is being an ACS CAN volunteer important to them?
Cancer took multiple people they loved from them and they never want anyone else to experience this kind of devasting loss, by advocating with ACS CAN they raise their voices to raise awareness and work to discuss those tough topics with lawmakers.
Why should others in your community get involved in ACS CAN?
Everyone has a story and voice that needs to be heard, and there are power in numbers! The more advocates we recruit and train, the more impact we can have on changing public policy for the better.
