Vanessa Ramirez Headshot, ACS CAN Board of DirectorsVanessa Ramirez is the host of Arizona Midday on the NBC affiliate in Phoenix and the in-game host for the MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks. Using her prominent platforms, she amplifies the voices of cancer patients, survivors, and their families, advocating for vital resources and support in the fight against cancer.

Vanessa has been a dedicated volunteer with the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) since 2012. She has actively participated in events such as the Leadership Summit and Lobby Day in Washington, D.C., where she passionately urged members of Congress to support federal policies aimed at combating cancer. Vanessa is also a regular advocate at Cancer Action Day, held annually at the Arizona State Capitol, helping to raise awareness and mobilize action in the fight against cancer. Her advocacy work earned her the prestigious Rising Star Woman of the Year Award in 2016.

Her commitment to cancer advocacy is deeply personal. In 2011, Vanessa lost her father, Frank Ramirez, to lung cancer. Despite his never having used tobacco, the disease took his life and left Vanessa with an unshakable grief. Determined to honor his memory and help others facing similar struggles, she founded the Frank Ramirez Breathe to Believe fundraiser. This annual event has raised over $200,000 for cancer organizations, furthering the fight against the disease that took her father.

As she continues to expand her advocacy efforts, Vanessa is excited to take her message to a national platform, encouraging early cancer screenings and providing support to those affected by the disease. A Phoenix native, Vanessa graduated with a B.A. in Communications from Grand Canyon University.

Outside of her professional and advocacy work, Vanessa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring new restaurants and travel destinations, and staying active through regular workouts.
