Cancer Votes canvassingNow through November 3rd, there will be thousands of campaign volunteers calling voters and knocking on doors seeking your support for their candidate. They will also ask you if you have any questions.

And that's your chance to make sure they hear about our priority cancer issues.

We've prepared the below talking points and questions you can use if you do get the call or knock:

  • I’m a volunteer with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN).
  • Cancer Votes is ACS CAN’s nonpartisan election program. Its goal is to make sure candidates know how lawmakers can help defeat the disease, and empower the public to engage candidates on cancer issues.
  • Lawmakers at every level play a critical role in the fight against cancer.

And if the volunteer is helping a candidate for president, the U.S. House or U.S. Senate, you can ask them these questions:

  • If the Supreme Court overturns the Affordable Care Act, how will [candidate] protect people with pre-existing conditions like cancer?
  • Will [candidate] commit to annual increases in funding for the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute?

Did you get the chance to do it? Tell us about it with our simple reply form.
