Aleta is the head social worker at Mercy LIFE in Mobile, Alabama. Mercy LIFE is a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). PACE programs, jointly funded by Medicaid and Medicare, allow seniors to get the care they need to stay at home instead of needing to go to a nursing home.
Aleta sees the importance of Medicaid for her patients every single day. Her patients are able to receive physical therapy, transportation to and from appointments, assistance with activities of daily living like bathing and laundry, as well as medications and doctor’s appointments – all while being able to live independently at home.
The all-inclusive and wrap-around care that Mercy LIFE is able to provide through Medicaid funding means that patients get better care, and because there is less duplication of services, the services are more efficient: “We save time and money by getting people coordinated, preventive care – earlier and more often.”
Special thanks to Mercy LIFE for their partnership.
