During the August Congressional Recess, American Cancer Society Ambassadors in Maryland are urging Congress to " Help fix our health care system before it POPS!!" On May 23, volunteers Sue Lyddon-Hayes and Georgette B. Gaskin met with Congressman Steny Hoyer (CD-5) at the Air Show in Southern MD. Volunteers discussed the importance of quality, affordable, accessible health care for all American and stressed how critical access to care is for diagnosing and treating cancer. 180

Looking at what we were able to accomplish this session and given the poor budget climate, we would classify the 2009 MD General Assembly Session as a very successful session for the cancer control community.
