Today, the House Insurance Committee passed legislation that would increase access to biomarker testing.
The following is a statement from Leo Almeida, government relations director, American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN)
COLUMBUS, OHIO – “Today, the House Insurance Committee passed legislation that would increase access to biomarker testing. This legislation will help address a significant barrier and bring the promise of precision medicine to more Ohioans, no matter their income or where they live. Biomarker testing opens the door to targeted therapies, which can provide many benefits to patients, including better outcomes, improved quality of life, and, in some cases, reduced costs from bypassing ineffective therapies.
“ACS CAN extends its gratitude to Rep. White for sponsoring this critical next step in ensuring cancer patients have access to precision medicine and looks forward to seeing the full House pass this vital legislation soon.”
