ACS CAN supports legislation that restricts the use of so-called copay accumulator adjustments in health insurance plans.
We advocate for policies that ensure third party prescription drug copay assistance is counted toward patients’ out-of-pocket cost obligations. Prescription drug affordability safegaurds that patients and their families can care for themselves while reducing the burden of toxic medical debt.
Michigan cancer patients and others rely on prescription drug copay assistance to help them pay for the high cost of drugs and help them meet their maximum out of pocket limit. These copay assistance programs can give patients access to a lifesaving medication they may otherwise not be able to afford.
