Expanded Access Principles

Expanded access inovolves accessing unapproved therapies outside of clinical trials.  This process has been in existience since the late 1980s, and currently there have been calls to change the process.  Eighteen patient advocacy organizations, including ACS CAN, have issued a set of principles to be used when considering changes to existing policy.  These principles are meant to ensure the safety and ethical treatment of patients.
