Healey Signs Bill to Address Breast Cancer Screening Inequities
Legislation will eliminate costly barriers to follow up breast cancer screening
The undersigned groups greatly appreciate the Senate Finance and HELP committees’ substantial progress in advancing comprehensive health reform legislation.
As you merge these committees’ bills, it is essential to ensure that final legislation makes high quality health care affordable for all Americans. The current proposal that cleared the Senate Finance Committee does not yet pass that test.
A combined bill that goes to the Senate floor must not allow insurers to continue to discriminate against older adults or leave low and middle income Americans liable for spending unreasonable, excessive portions of their family budgets on health care.
We believe that the Senate can and must do more to improve affordability – both in and out of the exchange – while maintaining the President’s pledge to pay for reform in full.
We look forward to working with you to ensure that health reform legislation guarantees affordable coverage and is enacted into law this year.
