ANNAPOLIS, MD – MARCH 27, 2023 – Lance Kilpatrick has joined the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) as the Government Relations Director in Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C. “Cancer has touched all of our lives, and I’m excited to do my part to help advance legislation and policies that will save lives from this horrible disease,” Kilpatrick said. “There is a lot of work to be done in Annapolis, Dover and the District on behalf of the cancer community. I look forward to working with elected officials, volunteers, community partners and leaders and organizations to secure such policies and help reduce suffering and death from cancer.”
Kilpatrick comes to ACS CAN after a dozen years at AARP’s national office, serving on campaign teams that led to the enactment of the Affordable Care Act and Medicare Part D. Most recently he served as AFSCME Maryland’s Legislative & Political Director, working with Executive Board members and other Council staff to expand collective bargaining rights for higher education and public defender employees; enhance worker wages and working conditions; and expand disability and retirement benefits.
