Transportation to and from the airport, Union Station & hotel
The Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel is located 15 minutes from Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA), 40 minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and 50 minutes from Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI). Your commute to the hotel is reimbursable using the volunteer expense report included on the Hub. We ask you to consider using one of our mass transit options to travel to our centrally located host hotel.
Subway / Public Transportation to/from DCA & IAD
If you are using Metro to travel to the hotel, you can use your SmarTrip card provided in past years or purchase a SmarTrip card from the machines in every station. We recommend you initially load $10 and reload as necessary. Please keep your receipts for reimbursements. Participants who arrive without a SmarTrip for the Tuesday commute to Capitol Hill will be provided with a reloadable SmarTrip onsite.

Metro from DCA:
Option A- Take the Blue Line toward Largo Town Center and get off at the Metro Center Station stop (9 stops). There is an entrance to the Grand Hyatt Washington in the station. Follow the signs to exit the Metro Center station using the 11th & G Street exit. Rather than take the short escalator to street-level, look for the glass doors straight ahead. Walk through the doors, up 2 short escalators & through the building lobby right into the Grand Hyatt!
Option B- Take the Yellow Line toward Greenbelt to the Gallery Place - Chinatown stop (6 stops). Once you’ve arrived at the Gallery Place - Chinatown stop, you can and take the Red Line toward Shady Grove to Metro Center (1 stop), or you can walk from the Gallery Place – Chinatown stop to the Grand Hyatt in about 5 minutes. (Follow the Metro signs to the G Street exit).
Metro from IAD: To get to the Metro station, you must take the $5 per person Silver Line Express bus to the Wiehle/Reston Station. The trip to the station from the airport typically takes 15 minutes. When you arrive at the station, take the Metro toward Largo Town Center to the Metro Center Station stop. There is an entrance to the Grand Hyatt Washington in the station. Follow the signs to exit the Metro Center station using the 11th & G Street exit. Rather than take the short escalator to street-level, look for the glass doors straight ahead. Walk through the doors, up 2 short escalators & through the building lobby right into the Grand Hyatt!

MARC Train to/from BWI
For those arriving into BWI, the MARC train is often the quickest way to and from Washington, DC, especially during rush hour.
When you arrive at BWI, proceed to baggage claim, and look for the free MARC train shuttle to the train station. You can only access the station by shuttle. Once you are at the MARC station, buy your $8 one-way ticket from the kiosk. The MARC train is approximately a one-hour ride to Washington Union Station. Please visit mta.maryland.gov/marc-train for updates as track work and other unforeseeable events may change the train times.
Once you are at Washington Union Station, take the Red Line toward Shady Grove to the Metro Center Station stop (3 stops). Follow the Metro signs to the 11th Street exit. Rather than take the short escalator to street-level, look for the glass doors straight ahead. Walk through the doors, up 2 short escalators & through the building lobby right into the Grand Hyatt!
Uber / Taxi Service
If you are coming as a volunteer and must take a taxi or Uber, please choose the most economical option and consider riding with another volunteer. Both taxis and Uber have accessible options.
Hotel Parking
Parking in the Grand Hyatt costs between $45-$64 depending on valet vs self-park. If you are coming as a volunteer, in the interest of stewardship, please do not valet your car. Alternatively, the City Center parking garage directly across the street from the Grand Hyatt allows for overnight parking, including Sundays, at a rate of $22-$30/night. ACS CAN reimburses for most parking.
Travel to and from Capitol Hill
The meeting schedule you receive on Thursday, September 8, will indicate the format of your meeting. If your meeting is virtual, you are welcome to take the meeting from wherever is most convenient, including the Methodist United Building where ACS CAN will provide laptops.
Public Transportation
Follow the signs from our lobby to get to either the Red Line or the Blue/Orange/Silver lines. There is an accesible entrace to the Metro Center Station with an ADA elevator 1.5 blocks from the hotel near 12th & G Streets, across from Macys.
Going from the Hotel to Senate meetings, you’ll take the Red Line toward Glenmont and exit at the Union Station Metro stop (3 stops).
Going from the hotel to House meetings, you’ll take the Blue, Orange, or Silver Lines toward New Carrollton (Orange Line) or Largo Town Center (Blue and Silver Lines), and exit at Capitol South Station (5 stops).
Returning from Senate meetings to the hotel, walk to Union Station. There, you’ll take the Red Line towards Shady Grove and exit at the Metro Center stop (3 stops).
Returning from House meetings to the hotel, walk to the Capitol South Station, take the Blue, Orange, or Silver Lines toward Franconia-Springfield (Blue Line), Vienna (Orange Line) or Wiehle-Reston (Silver Line) and exit at the Metro Center Station stop. (Follow the Metro signs to the 11th Street exit).
Dedicated Bus
ACS CAN will also make coach buses available for travel to and from Capitol Hill. These buses are for any registered participant and can accommodate all mobility needs. The bus will pick up/drop off from the 10th Street side of the hotel (near the hotel’s front desk) and drop off/pick up at Peace Circle near the Capitol. The buses will loop until 5:30pm and there will be bus personnel to assist both at the hotel & at the Capitol.
Travel to and from Lights of Hope
The Hope Walk will take place Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 7pm-9pm at Constitution Gardens. Dedicated buses will be on hand to take participants from the hotel to the Hope Walk site and back.
If you are traveling to the Hope Walk from elsewhere on Capitol Hill consider taking the DC Circulator, which you can pay for with your SmarTrip card. The Lincoln Memorial stop is a short, 4-minute walk to Constitution Gardens.
