The 2022 event line-up:
Host: David Horning, Jr.
With a last name like that, Cleveland-based comic David Horning learned at a young age to lean into what bothers him using humor, and his comedy is a reflection of this. His optimistic slant on both mundane and heavy topics has gotten him selected to the New York Comedy Festival, Laughing Devil Comedy Festival, the Cleveland Comedy Festival, and on stages around the country. On top of stand-up, David teaches managers and executive teams to improve their workplace culture by developing their senses of humor, and he regularly appears on conference stages as the keynote speaker through his company, Water Cooler Comedy. He also produces several comedy shows around the Cleveland area and co-hosts the podcast “You Can’t Laugh At That,” which explores the psychology behind other comedians' jokes to prove why anything can be funny. @thedavidhorning on IG & Twitter
John Armstrong
Born and raised in Cleveland, John Armstrong has been performing stand-up comedy for 6 years. A regular host and feature act at the Cleveland Improv and Hilarities, John's observational humor about current events, relationships, and family have won over audiences of all kinds. John runs his own open mic every Thursday at Hatfield's in West Park. @johnarmstrongcomedy on IG
Kathie Dice
She might LOOK like a librarian…but don’t judge a book by its cover! Forget the Dewey Decimal system; she’s just trying to keep her life in order. With a mix of self-deprecating humor, innuendo, and inference, her take on, husband annoyance, getting older, an oddball family, work experiences, will make you believe that the power of laughter can heal anything!
Kathie placed first in the round two competition of The World Series of Comedy, at Zanie’s Comedy Club in Chicago, finals in two Cleveland area comedy competitions, and first in comedy monologue in a Los Angeles talent competition. She was a featured finalist on the Fox2 news in Detroit comedy competition and a finalist in Ohio’s Funniest, Akron’s Funniest and So You Think You’re Funny.
Mike Conley
Mike’s a 25-year touring Headlining comedian based in Coventry Township, Ohio. His material covers everything from growing up a Catholic-Schooled middle child to surviving a major heart attack and quad-bypass surgery. Ages 21-81 thoroughly enjoy their evening as Mike’s audience. Whether it’s 25 people or 2500 people, everyone leaves with a smile on their face. He has performed with some of comedy's biggest names including, John Pinette, Louie Anderson, Sinbad, Steve Wright, “Weird Al” Yankovic just to name a few. He’s also performed with music’s American Authors, as well as The Coasters. @MikeConleyFunny on IG, FB, Twitter
Michael Gershe
As a survivor of a drunk driving incident that killed his mother and almost himself when he was an infant, Michael Gershe uses humor to not only entertain an audience, but to inspire them. Despite his mother's death, he and his brother were raised by a Jamaican woman which allowed him to have a very diverse background as he often tells people he is "Jewish Jamaican."
Michael’s career in entertainment began shortly after his grandfather took him to the magic store around the age of 12. He spent his youth and summers during college as a magician performing at birthday parties and summer camps. Growing up he was a fan of Abbott and Costello, Robin Williams, and Harry Anderson, which led to his dream of becoming a stand-up comedian.
We're excited to be back in person and can't wait to see you on August 30th starting at 6:30pm!
We know everyone's comfort level is different with COVID-19 and recognize the challenge of hosting in a local bar that is also trying to serve regular customers in a socially distanced way. As such, we are monitoring the public health situation closely and will follow CDC and local health department guidelines which may require masking indoors (unless actively eating or drinking). There is a separate entrance for our event so guests will not have to walk through the bar area unless opting to do so to purchase drinks or food from their full menu.
Don't forget to check out the silent auction!
To make it easier for all to enjoy, the silent auction will be availble online and at the event.
There are incredible baskets this year that you will not want to miss out. The auction will go live on August 23 at 8am and close immediately after the last mic. drops on August 30:
