Protect Health Care Coverage in Massachusetts!

September 4, 2009

Recently ACS CAN came together with partner organizations in Massachusetts to run this advertorial in The Boston Globe.  The reason is an important one: nearly 30,000 legal immigrants – who are currently enrolled in Commonwealth Care – are threatened with losing their health insurance coverage. These residents are our neighbors, our family members, our friends and our co-workers who are lawfully residing, working, and paying taxes in this state.

Since Massachusetts passed our landmark health reform bill, we’ve made history and led the nation with providing access to quality, affordable health care for over 96% of the state’s population.  But now one group is being singled out to lose their health care coverage.  This loss of coverage will harm the health of these individuals, our already strained health care providers, and our entire state economy, which benefits from the productivity of these residents in our workforce.

The Legislature now has a chance to change its decision and approve scaled back coverage for this group.  But we must act now!  Please call your State Senator and Representative to urge them to maintain Commonwealth Care coverage for these 30,000 Massachusetts residents!
