Oklahoma State Lead Ambassador

Corey Seaman

I first became involved with the American Cancer Society in 2007 after attending a Relay For Life event, drawn in by the community and shared mission to fight cancer. Since then, my passion for advocacy has only grown, especially as I’ve seen the impact of cancer on my own family and loved ones.

In the past few years, I’ve helped lead efforts to increase federal cancer research funding through the National Cancer Institute (NCI), urging our congressional delegation to support critical investments in lifesaving treatments. Additionally, I was proud to play a role in securing the passage of the federal Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act in the U.S. House, a key step toward improving early cancer detection for millions of Americans.

On the state level, I’ve worked to push for policy solutions that remove barriers to biomarker testing in Oklahoma, helping to ensure cancer patients have access to precision medicine that can lead to better outcomes. Advocating for tobacco control funding and policies to reduce cancer disparities, especially among marginalized communities, has also been a key focus of my work.

As the Oklahoma State Lead Ambassador, I am committed to continuing this fight—breaking down barriers to care, ensuring cancer research remains a priority, and making sure every Oklahoman, no matter their background, has access to the care they need to prevent, detect, and survive cancer.

Why are you a cancer advocate?

I advocate because cancer affects far too many lives, and I’ve seen firsthand the challenges people face in accessing quality care and support. No one should have to navigate a cancer diagnosis alone or struggle to get the treatment they need. Through advocacy, I work to ensure that policies prioritize prevention, research, and equitable access to care so that every person has a fighting chance against cancer.

Why should others in your community get involved in ACS CAN?

Cancer has touched so many lives across Oklahoma, including my own family and friends. I’ve seen the barriers people face in accessing prevention, treatment, and support, and I know that policy change is essential to improving outcomes. By getting involved with ACS CAN, you can help fight for stronger cancer policies, increased research funding, and better access to care—ensuring that all Oklahomans, no matter where they live, have the resources they need. Advocacy gives us the power to create real change, and every voice makes a difference.

Why is being an ACS CAN volunteer important to you?

Being an ACS CAN volunteer is my way of turning passion into action. Cancer doesn’t discriminate—it affects people from all walks of life, yet too many still face barriers to prevention, treatment, and care. I refuse to accept that access to lifesaving resources depends on where you live, who you are, or what you can afford. Advocacy is how we change that. By using my voice to push for policies that fund research, expand access to care, and support patients and survivors, I’m fighting for a future where no one has to hear the words “you have cancer” without hope.
