Multiple Smoke-Free Wins

Since July 1, four comprehensive smoke-free laws have been passed:

  • On July 2, the Lisbon, ND City Council voted to adopt a comprehensive smoke-free ordinance that makes all public places and workplaces, including bars, smoke-free. Lisbon is the ninth North Dakota city to pass an ordinance to make it a healthier place to live and work. The ordinance will take effect on September 1, 2012.
  • On July 2, the Lawrence, IN city council voted to adopt a smoke-free ordinance that will cover workplaces, restaurants and bars.ξ The ordinance will go into effect on October 1, 2012.
  • On Monday, July 9th, the Vestavia Hills, AL City Council voted to adopt a comprehensive smoke-free ordinance covering all workplaces, restaurants and bars.ξ The ordinance will take effect on August 16th.
  • On Tuesday, July 10th, the Hartsville, SC City Council voted to adopt a comprehensive smoke-free ordinance covering all workplaces, restaurants and bars.ξ The ordinance will go into effect on October 10, 2012.
