Let's ring in the new year together

Happy New Year!  As we ring in the new year, I hope we can continue to count on our advocates' support to help make 2018 another great year!   January 10th  marks the first day of the Maryland General Assembly and this year's ACS CAN’s state legislative priorities are:

• Increase funding for tobacco control programs to $21 million.      
• Prohibit the sale of tobacco products to persons under the age of 21.
• Protect state funding for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program.
• Prohibit individuals under the age of 18 from using indoor tanning salons.
• Improve nutrition and increase physical activity.
• Monitor legislation to ensure access to pain relief for cancer patients and survivors.
• Protect cancer research funding for MD Academic Medical Centers.

To make sure our lawmakers know what is important in our state, please join us for the ACS CAN Maryland Day at the State Capitol to be held on February 27, 2018 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm where we will focus on a few of our priority issues. See the event's section for more details.
