Oregon City Supports Statewide Ban on Flavored Tobacco Products
OREGON CITY, OR — Oregon City has taken a stand against flavored tobacco products by passing a resolution on Wednesday that calls for an end to their sale.
“Decades after they were banned from the airwaves, Big Tobacco companies return to prime-time television this weekend — but not by choice,” according to an Associated Press article.
More than a decade after a lawsuit won by the American Cancer Society and other plaintiffs and after years of delays by Big Tobacco, tobacco companies have to come clean and admit the truth about the dangers of cigarettes and secondhand smoke in an unprecedented ad campaign.
Starting November 24th, and lasting nearly an entire year, the tobacco companies will be running advertisements in major newspapers and on television stations around the country.
