Granite Staters One Step Closer to Continued Access to Health Care;
ACS CAN Urges Senate Support of HB1696
CONCORD – March 9, 2016 – Today, the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted in support HB 1696, which would reauthorize the New Hampshire Health Protection Program (NHHPP). The following statement can be attributed to Mike Rollo, director of government relations in New Hampshire for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN).
“Today, we are one step closer to ensuring continued access to affordable health coverage for the nearly 48,000 low-income Granite Staters who are enrolled in the NHHPP. This program is providing comprehensive health care coverage to thousands of state residents, increasing access to mammograms, colon cancer screenings and tobacco cessation therapies for men and women who might otherwise be unable to access such services.
“ACS CAN urges the Senate to follow suit and support the reauthorization of the NHHPP to ensure that all state residents have the security of knowing they have access to affordable, health care coverage, including proven cancer screenings and treatment services. Providing access to routine, preventive care, we will not only save the state dollars – but save lives”
ACS CAN, the nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society, supports evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. ACS CAN works to encourage elected officials and candidates to make cancer a top national priority. ACS CAN gives ordinary people extraordinary power to fight cancer with the training and tools they need to make their voices heard. For more information, visit www.fightcancer.org.
