At A Glance: NY Cancer Burden

January 17, 2013

The American Cancer Society today released it's annual Facts & Figures report this morning. Here is how the key statistics shape up in New York State.

Lung cancer is expected to remain the number one cancer killer in the state, illustrating the need for a better funded NYS Tobacco Control Program.  Stats below also include numbers of breast and colon cancers, which underscore the importance of maintaining funding for the NYS Cancer Services Program that provides free cancer screenings to the uninsured and underinsured. Gov. Cuomo should use this new data to bolster the case for enhanced state support for these lifesaving programs.
