Fight Back Against Cancer this December
Cancer effects us all, but no one is truely powerless in the effort to end this disease. Now is your chance to Fight Back and let your voice be heard.
As we now know, November's midterm elections dramatically changed the national political landscape. Republicans took back control of the House of Representatives, as voters voiced their distress about the lingering recession and the growing deficit. While ACS CAN does not endorse candidates or affiliate with a particular party, we do work with elected officials from both sides of the aisle in implementing our cancer fighting priorities.
December is the perfect time to meet with newly elected Members of Congress, to introduce them to our agenda before they take office.
Attached you will find materials that can be used in volunteer meetings with newly elected Members of Congress. While these were designed with new Members in mind, they can also be used with returning lawmakers. A new Congress is a great opportunity to re-introduce both our volunteers and our priorities to Congress, and given that there is going to be a change in leadership in the House, we'll have a lot of new "power-brokers" to work with.
We hope you will view this as an opportunity to have a broader discussion about ACS CAN, our policy priorities and legislative agenda.
