How You Can Help Hold Big Tobacco Accountable
Nearly 20 years ago, a U.S. Federal District judge found that the major cigarette manufacturers violated civil racketeering laws for deliberately defrauding the public.
A U.S. District Judge has ruled that tobacco companies deliberately deceived Americans about the health dangers of cigarettes.ξ Now, Judge Gladys Kessler is ordering Big Tobacco to be honest and provide truthful information about their deadly products. Your American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network has been at the forefront of this campaign to expose the lies that tobacco companies spent billions of dollars promoting. Starting at some point in 2013, the tobacco companies will be required to include very specific, factual statements in national broadcast and print advertisements and on corporate websites and cigarette box inserts.
