CPRIT and Tanning Issues Make Headway

On Monday, May 13, ACS CAN advocacy efforts were rewarded with two great pieces of news:

  • The Texas House voted in favor of SB 329, a bill to raise the minimum age for tanning bed use in Texas to 18. The bill now goes to Governor Perry's desk for approval.
  • Texas legislators on the budget conference committee agreed to restore $594 milllion in CPRIT funding, provided that comprehensive CPRIT reform legislation is passed this year.  

Our efforts to pursue full passage of protective tanning legislation, CPRIT reform and funding, and other vital cancer-fighting policies will continue - thank you for your support!
