Check out our new TV ad

September 25, 2009

ACS CAN is on the air! You can see our new tv ad before it hits the airwaves.

ACS CAN's new TV ad featuring Dan Brodrick will start airing this weekend during the Sunday morning talk shows.

When Dan lost his job 10 years ago, he also lost his insurance. Despite making dozens of calls to insurance companies, he and his wife Sharon were denied every time due to a pre-existing condition.ξ Dan and Sharon were willing to pay for health insurance but were never given that chance.ξ Sharon died from cancer more than a year ago.

Having health insurance could have meant catching her cancer early and allowing her to afford treatment.

In an interview with ACS CAN, Dan shared the following story:

When Dan found out Sharon had cancer, "I called several places. One was a very renowned cancer-fighting private hospital that is well known in the nation, and they told me if you didn't have insurance that it was $125,000 to start" treatment. ξ When Dan said he didn't have that much money and didn't have health insurance, the woman from the hospital told him, "Well I guess she's just going to die isn't she,ξ and hung the phone up."

I want you to watch the TV ad, but I also want you to do more.ξ Share the ad with five friends.ξ Then, make a donation to ACS CAN to help us win this campaign and ensure that no one else ever has this experience.

It is absolutely outrageous that people are dying simply because they are denied health insurance. Thinking twice about sharing the ad and making a donation?ξ Just remember the words from the hospital: "Well, I guess she's just going to die isn't she."

This is why ACS CAN is fighting for health care reform.ξ Join the fight now.
