Cancer Research happening in California!

July 15, 2010

Every day researchers across the country are working to find the next breakthrough in cancer screening, treatment and care. In California, researchers at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center (funded by the National Cancer Institute) are developing ways of using saliva as a cancer diagnostic. Researchers successfully linked changes in the molecular signatures found in human saliva to the presence of early-stage pancreatic cancer.

Research done in labs all across the country will not see breakthroughs overnight, and this is why our legislative leaders in Congress need to continue to sustain funding year in and year out for the National Institutes of Health.
