April is Minority Cancer Awareness Month in Texas

On April 3, state representatives Ruth Jones McClendon (left) and Myra Crownover held a press conference announcing April as Minority Cancer Awareness Month in Texas. As part of the kickoff, which was co-organized by ACS CAN, DSHS Commissioner David L. Lakey, M.D., Dr. Lorna Haughton McNeill, Ph.D. of MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Debra A. Patt, M.D., M.P.H. (Immediate Past Chair, Texas Medical Association Committee on Cancer) delivered updates on cancer demographics, the importance of nutrition and exercise in fighting cancer, and lung cancer screenings.
