"I needed somebody who could take my pain and suffering in hand and make that the focus of my treatment.
Those are the words of Eric Buck, a then 48-year old Massachusetts professor who was recovering from cancer.
The person he needed was Dr. Vicki Jackson, chief of palliative care at Massachusetts General Hospital.
