10th Annual How Do You Measure Up? Report Evaluates States' Cancer Legislation and Policy Efforts

ACS CAN released its 10th annual How Do You Measure Up?: A Progress Report on State Legislative Activity to Reduce Cancer Incidence and Mortality on Thursday, August 9, at the National Conference of State Legislatures annual meeting in Chicago. The report evaluates states on their progress towards various legislative and policy benchmarks, including efforts to encourage prevention, guarantee access to affordable health care, curb tobacco use and focus on quality of life. How Do You Measure Up?also offers a blueprint for effective implementation of Affordable Care Act provisions that benefit cancer patients and their families, such as creating consumer friendly state health exchanges, expanding health coverage through Medicaid and ensuring that health plans cover essential health benefits for chronic disease patients.

ACS CAN is coordinating nearly 40 national and local radio and TV interviews, featuring ACS CAN President Chris Hansen and Division staff and volunteers.  For information about ordering copies of the report, please check the Society News section on the My Society Link community next week.

As always, thank you for all you do every day to support laws and policies that help cancer patients and their families.
