Kitti Walkup-Birkhead has been an ACSCAN volunteer for two years, her Tribal affiliation is Lingit (Tlingit).
"A few years ago, I lost a friend to stage IV colorectal cancer who was only 40 at the time with no family history of cancer. Two years ago my best friend got a stage IV breast cancer diagnosis, and she was only 44, also no family history of cancer. After my best friend’s diagnosis, I wanted to do more to prevent more people experiencing their first cancer diagnosis at stage IV, so I became involved with ACS CAN to have a greater impact when talking with my lawmakers."
