Increase Funding for Youth Tobacco Prevention
Increase Funding for Youth Tobacco Prevention Programs
ACS CAN is advocating for the General Assembly to reinstate the funding that was cut from the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth in 2008. The Foundation provides very effective youth tobacco use prevention programs to children and youth throughout Virginia. Originally the Foundation received 10% of the annual Master Settlement Agreement payments that Virginia receives. However, this funding was cut to 8.5% in 2008. This cut made a big impact since this is the Foundation's only source of funding.
