Montana Moonshot Summits

Wednesday, June 29, 2016 - 9:00am

You are cordially invited to join a nationwide community conversation happening here in Montana about ending cancer!

During his State of the Union address on January 12, 2016, President Barack Obama announced the establishment of a new National Cancer Moonshot Initiative to accelerate cancer research. The initiative—led by Vice President Joe Biden—aims to make more therapies available to more patients, while also improving our ability to prevent cancer and detect it at an early stage.

On June 29, representatives from leading agencies comprising the Montana Cancer Coalition will join Vice President Joe Biden and communities across the country in holding a local Cancer Moonshot Summit to accelerate the pace of progress in cancer research, prevention, treatment, and care.

These summits will be the first time that individuals and organizations representing the entire cancer community and beyond – researchers, oncologists, care providers, philanthropists, data and tech experts, advocates, patients and survivors – will all convene under the national charge to double the rate of progress toward a cure.

As a valued stakeholder your participation in the local summit will help give Montana a strong voice in the national conversation to end the burden of cancer here in our state and across the country.

By registering below you are committing to joining us on Wednesday, June 29 from 12 to 3 p.m. at either the Billings, Bozeman or Kalispell summit. Following lunch and a live stream of Vice President Biden’s remarks and a facilitated discussion, we will examine the Montana-specific priorities that were identified in the newly issued Montana Cancer Coalition’s five-year plan.  Please register if you agree to attend the summit and to work with the Montana Cancer Coalition, MONTANA Department of Health and Human Services, American Cancer Society, American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and the Cancer Support Community to accelerate the pace of progress in the fight against cancer right here in Montana.

Lunch is included with completed registration. Registration provided by partner American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.
