This year, 65,320 North Carolinians will hear the words "You have cancer." And the single greatest indicator of whether or not you will survive a cancer diagnosis is insurance status. North Carolina is one of 12 remaining states that has not increased access to Medicaid using federal funding that has been set aside for this purpose. The impact that Medicaid expansion would have in North Carolina is enormous:
- 600,000 people would gain health coverage
- 37,200 jobs would be created
- $2 billion in federal funding would come into the state
