January 18, 2013

Millions of eyes will be turned to Washington, D.C. on Monday, as President Obama is inaugurated into his second term as president. But this Inauguration Day is even more significant because it falls on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a day when volunteering in oneŠ—'s community has become a national tradition. President Obama called for a National Day of Service tomorrow, January 19, to honor Dr. King and his undying commitment to helping others. So during this long Martin Luther King Day weekend, as the president readies himself to renew his commitment to lead our country, I ask you to make a commitment and pledge to become an ACS CAN member, to learn what cancer advocacy events are happening in your area. If youŠ—'re already a member, you could take a moment to tell a friend about the power of joining the nationŠ—'s leading cancer advocacy organization. Your efforts truly matter. You can make a big difference in our battle against cancer. Learn what you can do to help impact the lives of those who are battling this relentless disease.
