Allison Jones Thomson runs her own consulting practice for marketing strategy and communications in the Silicon Valley area of California. Early in her career she worked in cancer research at Johnson & Johnson, following that she held numerous positions in sales and marketing management for medical device organizations including Eppendorf, Carl Zeiss, Radionics and Photoelectron. Ms. Thomson received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Simmons College and M.B.A. from Sacred Heart University.
After her father died from lung cancer, Ms. Thomson set out to make a difference in the cancer community. She has served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Brain Tumor Foundation (n/k/a the National Brain Tumor Society) for five years and currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Cancer CAREpoint, a community organization that provides psycho-social services to cancer patients in the South Bay Area of California. Additionally, she sits on the ACS CA Advisory Board. She became involved with ACS CAN during the Proposition 29 campaign to raise the state tobacco tax in California in order to fund cancer research, smoking reduction programs, and tobacco law enforcement. Ms. Thomson was elected to the ACS CAN Board of Directors in January 2013.
