To mark Medicaid Awareness Month, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is shining a bright light on what expanding eligibility for the state’s Medicaid program would mean for Wyoming families in the fight against cancer. Wyoming remains one of only 10 states without Medicaid expansion.

Access to affordable, quality healthcare remains elusive for too many Wyomingites, a message delivered clearly when cancer advocates from throughout the state gathered in Cheyenne as part of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s Cancer Action Day.

Extending postpartum Medicaid coverage is a positive step toward improving the health outcomes of women and their children in Wyoming.

Cheyenne, Wyo. – Today marks 12 years since the historic passage of the Affordable Care Act, and yet roughly 24,000 Wyoming residents remain uninsured, denied coverage by state lawmakers who refuse to increase access to Medicaid. Wyoming is one of only 12 states that has not increased access to health
