A majority (58%) of cancer patients and survivors say they would be less likely to remain current with their recommended preventive care if it came with a cost, according to a new survey by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN).  Over half (53%) of those surveyed quantified the cost that would present such a barrier at less than $200, with more than a quarter (28%) marking their threshold at $100.  

Cigarette smoking declined from 12.5% in 2020 to 11.5% in 2021, but one in five, or 46 million, U.S. adults continues to use tobacco products in 2021 according to new data released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives, in a 217-215 vote, passed the Limit, Save, Grow Act, advancing provisions that would greatly restrict access to affordable care and risk progress in the fight against cancer.  

Last year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released its proposed rules to eliminate menthol cigarettes and eliminate all flavors in cigars. Now, nearly one year later, the rules are still not final. ACS CAN joined 32 patient and provider groups 33 organizations applauding the Supreme Court’s decision to pause new restrictions that would have limited access to the FDA-approved drug mifepristone while litigation about the drug works its way through the courts.
