In the face of small business health plan legislation that could deny insurance coverage for mammograms to millions of women, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) today launched an advertising campaign in opposition to the bill, which could be debated by the U.S. Senate as early as next month.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- April 6, 2006 -- Millions of women could lose insurance coverage for mammograms and other cancer screenings required by state law under a bill reported out of the Senate health committee in March that soon could be headed for consideration by the full Senate.

As the House Budget Committee begins deliberating this week, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action NetworkSM (ACS CAN) is continuing its campaign to increase Cancer Research Funding by urging Representatives to join their Senate colleagues and insist upon a budget that restores and increases Cancer Research Funding.
