Washington, D.C. – August 1, 2018 –  Today the U.S. Senate approved its FY 2019 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies appropriations bill.

Washington, D.C – Next week the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), in coordination with more than 3,100 public housing agencies across the country, will finally go smoke-free.

BOSTON - Today, Governor Charlie Baker signed into law legislation that will increase the statewide age of sale for tobacco products - including e-cigarettes - from 18 to 21, include e-cigarettes in the smoke-free workplace law, and prohibit the sale of tobacco products in pharmacies.

Washington, D.C.  – Today the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously approved the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA).

BOSTON –  The Massachusetts House and Senate today enacted H4784, An act to protect youth from the health risks of tobacco and nicotine addiction, which takes a comprehensive approach to tobacco control efforts in the Commonwealth.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska—July 17, 2018—Governor Bill Walker signed the statewide smoke-free workplace bill into law today at the Lucky Wishbone, reportedly the first restaurant in Alaska to go completely smoke-free.

Today the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network submitted comments to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding proposals to reduce prescription drug costs outlined in the administration’s Request for Information (RFI) regarding its Blueprint to Lower Drug Prices and Reduce Out-of-Pocket Costs (blueprint).

We are disappointed the Round Rock City Council voted last Thursday to preserve a smoking exemption for certain businesses, continuing to expose workers and patrons to deadly secondhand smoke.

It’s hard to remember what it was like before Iowa’s Smokefree Air Act went into effect. Restaurants and bars had two sections: one smoking and the other for secondhand smoking. Dining tables had ashtrays on them. Smoking was allowed at malls and bowling alleys.

Today the House Energy and Commerce Committee marked up the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA). The bipartisan bill, which was unanimously approved by the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health last month, would increase federal research funding for palliative care, including symptom and pain management, and would establish palliative care education and training programs for doctors, nurses and other health professionals.
