As one of the leading patient advocacy groups that advocated for the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is celebrating the impact of the historic law ahead of its 14th anniversary on Saturday. ACS CAN is marking the milestone by urging Congress, state lawmakers and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit to protect and strengthen the critical patient protections of the ACA.
Rhode Island lawmakers have taken the first step towards improving prescription drug affordability for cancer patients and others with chronic diseases.
The Georgia Senate passed H.B. 1339 today, which in part forms a health care coverage commission. Michigan Must Do Better to Reduce the Burden of Cancer
The House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health today marked up the Screening for Communities to Receive Early and Equitable Needed Services (SCREENS) for Cancer Act, H.R. 3916. The bipartisan legislation would reauthorize the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) through 2028.

The Florida legislature ended its 2024 session today by passing a budget that included landmark funding for cancer priorities in the Sunshine State, including meaningful increases for the Florida Cancer Innovation Fund, the Mary Brogan Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program and the Casey DeSantis Cancer Research Program.
