
2019 ACS CAN Detroit Research Breakfast
We are excited to bring to you the ACS CAN 2019 Detroit Research Breakfast at the McGregor Center on the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit. This year's speaker will be Theresa Hastert, PhD from Wayne State University and Karmanos Cancer Institute. Dr. Hastert is an American Cancer Society funded researcher, studying the economic impact on those who live in the City of Detroit and have Cancer. The day will conclude with a panel of speakers for a question and answer session talking about the disparities in Detroit and how we can address them. Speaker:
Dr. Theresa Hastert is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Population Studies and Disparities Research Program at the Karmanos Cancer Institute. Her research interests include health disparities, socioeconomic factors, health behaviors, and cancer outcomes. Her current work, funded by the American Cancer Society, focuses on the financial consequences of cancer among racially and socioeconomically diverse cancer survivors. Dr. Hastert holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Washington and a Master of Public Policy with a concentration in health policy from UCLA.
