How You Can Help Hold Big Tobacco Accountable
Nearly 20 years ago, a U.S. Federal District judge found that the major cigarette manufacturers violated civil racketeering laws for deliberately defrauding the public.
Great news! The Anchorage Assembly took a stand against Big Tobacco and voted 11-0 in favor of raising the age of sale for tobacco products in Anchorage from 19 to 21.
We wanted to extend a big THANK YOU to all of the volunteers like you who contacted the Assembly about supporting this public health effort, which promises to help save lives from a preventable death and protect youth from a lifetime addiction.
If you would like to send a “Thank you” note to the Anchorage Assembly for passing this important policy, simply send an email to [email protected] and all of the Assembly members will receive your message.
The Tobacco 21 ordinance goes into effect on August 20, 2019.
Thank you for your help in effecting a more positive future for Anchorage.
