Meet State Lead Ambassador (SLA) Rebecca McMahon

Rebecca McMahon has been a volunteer with ACS CAN since August 2020.  Currently she serves as Nebraska Medicine’s Manager of Radiation Oncology. 

Why are you a cancer advocate?

 I’ve spent 21 years working in the field of oncology and have lost family and friends to cancer.

Why is being an ACS CAN volunteer important to you?

It is important to speak with legislature to make changes to our healthcare.  We all need access to preventative screening and as an volunteer I can make sure my state leaders understand how that impacts Nebraska.

Why should others in your community get involved in ACS CAN?

To make change, it takes power in numbers. It is important to save lives and make the changes that are needed.

Meet Vice State Lead Ambassador Paige Grogan

I’m Paige Grogan, Nebraska born and raised, and I am the Vice State Lead Ambassador for the state. I got involved with ACSCAN back in 2017 after I had my melanoma removed. I volunteered alongside the team to advocate for Tanning Bed Legislation that would prevent anyone under the age of 18 from using one.

After having the opportunity to speak in front of our state leaders about a cause that hits close to home, I became more passionate about advocating and sharing my story with our legislators to further the fight for a world free of cancer. In my role as Vice SLA, I hope to bring in more volunteers, increase our fundraising, and continue to advocate for a world free of cancer!
