Why is being an ACS CAN volunteer important to you?
I feel like I am really making a difference with ACS CAN. I can see changes in legislation and increases in funding as they happen!
What is your favorite memory from your time as an ACS CAN volunteer?
My favorite memory was watching on TV as the 21st Century Cures Act was signed knowing that the calls and emails I had sent contributed. Funding for cancer research moved ahead by 10 years!
Why should others in your community get involved with ACS CAN?
It’s so simple and easy. Many voices together can make faster change, and I believe it is our responsibility to advocate for those who can’t advocate for themselves. I believe there is a greater sense of community in MS than I have witnessed other places. We persevere & overcome! My experience is that any of my fellow Mississippians will do just about anything you need if you ask!
