Alabama Research Policy Luncheon
2018 ACS CAN Alabama Research Luncheon
Birmingham – November 8, 2018
The statistics are startling—1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed in their lifetime. Support ACS CAN’s efforts to ensure the next scientific breakthroughs happen sooner rather than later – and that those breakthroughs reach those who need them!
American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is the nation’s leading advocacy organization working every day to make issues facing cancer patients a national and state priority.
The ACS CAN Alabama Research Luncheon is a premiere event that brings together leaders from business, education, health care, government and research communities to advance the work of ACS CAN. This event will be part of a larger event to showcase cancer research facilities throughout the state. Those invited will include Southern Research, UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, USA Mitchell Cancer Institute and Hudson Alpha.
As the second largest funder of cancer research, behind the federal government, the event will offer an opportunity for researchers to learn out to apply for research grants through the American Cancer Society.
This leadership event not only unites those in Alabama who are fighting to end cancer; it supports ACS CAN, the nation’s leading advocacy organization which unites and empowers cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers, giving them the training and tools they need to be heard by policymakers across the
country.
