Senator Oelslager Received Distinguished Advocacy Award for Excellence in Cancer-Fighting Public Policy
Award is an Honor Bestowed by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network
Columbus, OH – May 10, 2016 – Senator Scott Oelslager was awarded the Distinguished Advocacy Award, a prestigious honor bestowed by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) in recognition of his leadership on oral chemo legislation and of his leadership and vigilance over three general assemblies to advance strong public health policies. Senator Oeslager’s leadership on oral chemo legislation has allowed cancer patients to access the emerging abundance of orally administered chemotherapy drugs, at equitable copayment levels as traditional treatments.
The award is presented by ACS CAN, the advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society, to select officials who have demonstrated leadership and commitment in the area of cancer-related public policy advocacy.
“Senator Oelslager has been a driving force behind legislation to improve the quality of life for cancer patients in Ohio,” said Jeff Stephens, Ohio government relations director, ACS CAN. “These actions have demonstrated his commitment to fighting cancer through public policy, and we look forward to continuing to work together to save lives in Ohio.”
ACS CAN applauds Senator Oelslager’s determination to enact meaningful legislation that benefits public health and saves lives from cancer in Ohio.
