Photos: On Obama's Route in Albany

September 21, 2009

On Monday, September 21, 2009, President Obama visted Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) in Troy (near Albany, NY) to discuss the importance of community colleges in the country's economic recovery.  In advance of the speech, a group of American Cancer Society volunteers gathered along the motorcade route near the Albany International Airport on Albany-Shaker Road (about a mile from the ACS office) to promote health care reform and to welcome the President to the Capital Region.  Regional Advocacy Director, Sherry Tomasky was interviewed by the Albany Times Union about why the group was there.

Pictures from the day can be seen below.

Also, American Cancer Society CEO Donald Distasio and Capital Region Regional Vice President Diana Martin were among the select few invited to this very tighly controlled event at HVCC.  Diana shared that she spoke to President Obama and thanked him for his efforts regarding health care reform.  She reported that he thanked the American Cancer Society in return and said "you are doing important work."
