ACS CAN Names Hobson New York State Grassroots Manager

ALBANY,  NY – November 24, 2015 -The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) has named Scott Hobson of Albany, NY  as New York State grassroots manager. In this post Hobson will recruit and work with volunteers to most effectively involve them in our federal, state and local campaigns.

Previously, Hobson served as manager of government relations for the Lawsuit Reform Alliance of New York. In this position Hobson worked with state and national partners to develop legislative policies priorities; drafted legislative memoranda and lobbied on behalf of legislation in which the organization was supportive.

“We are thrilled to have Scott join our team.  Scott’s experience will help give New Yorkers a strong voice in the fight against cancer,” said Julie Hart, director of New York State government relations for ACS CAN. “Whether it is protecting lifesaving cancer screenings, improving access to healthy foods for kids and families or helping New Yorkers battling a tobacco addiction, Scott’s advocacy experience will help our volunteers deliver these crucial messages.”

“ACS CAN volunteers are truly affecting policy in New York State,” said Hobson. “I look forward to working with this devoted group to enact a powerful strategy that will help decrease the number of people who hear the words ‘You have cancer.’”

Scott Hobson is based at the ACS CAN Albany, NY office. He can be reached at [email protected] or (518) 449-5438 ext. 3.
