Wow! what a beautiful site. On October 24, the Baltimore Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Event was filled with a sea of pink. Over 600 Power of the Purse petitions were collected to urge the Governor not to cut funding for the Maryland Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. Even though we have been successful for the past two years with protecting funding for this program, it is still underfunded. In Maryland only 1 in 3 eligible women are able to beneift from the Maryland Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. After months of delay and hard negotiations, Congress has finally passed a funding bill! The bill includes a small increase for cancer research and prevention programs.
